ChargeNet

Creating a marketplace for EV truck chargers

ChargeNet is an early-stage startup from the Netherlands. They wanted to create a platform for logistic companies to collaborate on decarbonisation of road logistics by sharing their charging infrastructure with each other. Our goal: Build a robust marketplace and mobile app within 3 months, enabling companies to share chargers and drivers to charge via OCPP and OCPI.

The Mission

Standardized communication with chargers and CPO backends via OCPP and OCPI

Build a web platform which serves different organizations and user types with unique features

Build a mobile app for drivers which they can use to find stations and charge their trucks

Test the whole solution e2e with multiple chargers, vehicles and CPOs

Our Solution

We delivered 3 key components to make this mission alive:

  • Mobile app, where drivers can find chargers shared with their organization and charge their trucks. Authentication works remotely via OCPI or Autocharge by using the vehicle MAC address via the OCPP gateway
  • Web-platform so Site operators can list their chargers and share with Fleet operators. The platform offers features which enable both orgs to set custom availability for each charger, negotiate a unique price via pricing proposals or manage users and vehicles.
  • OCPI modules and OCPP gateway to enable standardized e2e communication from platform to chargers

We developed the app in React Native with a Node.js backend, it operates on GCP with PostgreSQL. We used Expo for the mobile app, Stripe a

"We love working with Apex, there is a good click from the start with everybody in the team. Apex has shown great flexibilitity when new requests  or scope-changes inevitably creeped up and executed professionally. Our next product iteration will be with them again."
